Barcelona Surf Festival Review

YES, THERE ARE WAVES IN BARCELONA. Even though Barcelona is not a great place to surf, there is a big community of surfers living in it. It’s alive and kicking!

Last weekend sea, surf and music lovers joined the Barcelona Surf Festival, enjoying three days of celebrations. GK of course, also joined in on the fun!

Talks with responsible companies, kids workshops, beeswax surf wax workshop, the premier of our short-documentary ‘Mediterráneamente Plástico’, introducing GK Projects and repairing boards for free are some of the activities that we organized for the festival. Such an intense weekend and packed with so much fun! And all this was only possible thanks to all the volunteers who came to help, thank you so much.

At the same time we also want to thank the ecosurf warriors who formed the ‘Circular Board Makers’ crew. A bunch of different shapers, makers, thinkers and entrepreneurs that believe in a different way of doing things.

A showcase of alternative technologies, materials and manufacturing processes to reduce the environmental impact of the surfcrafts. From the raw materials extraction to the disposal of the boards.

We discussed about the current reality of the surfboards industry and the direction that needs to be taken in order to build a true sustainability reference.
