The 2025 #CleanUpwithGoodKarma campaign ends with more than 800,000 pieces of waste registered

3 simple steps to having a more conscientious and sustainable wardrobe

This 30th of September, the #CleanUpwithGoodKarma environmental campaign, promoted by Good Karma Projects, concludes with historic results:
1,678 participants, 72 organised actions and 819,104 registered waste items in natural environments throughout the territory.

This year we have had the support of the Tarragona Provincial Council, whose help has been key to continue promoting environmental awareness and action.

Since its beginning, the project has mobilized citizens to act against plastic pollution, combining citizen science, environmental education and direct action. Thanks to the joint effort of volunteers, schools, associations and local entities, progress has been made towards a healthier Mediterranean and a more conscious and committed society.

Most alarming waste found

This year’s results highlight the scale of the problem and the urgency of further action:

  • 835,441 pieces of plastic smaller than 2.5 cm, invisible to official records, of which approximately 823,750 were pellets, the most common industrial microplastic.
  • 25,671 cigarette butts, one of the most polluting waste for soils and ecosystems.
  • 6,584 medium-sized pieces of plastic (between 2.5 and 50 cm).
In total, more than 15 kg of pellets were removed from the natural environment.
Almost 100% of the waste found is plastic.

This data not only shows the impact of plastic pollution on our environment, but also the strength of a community that learns, cares and acts for a more sustainable future.

The action doesn’t end here

Although the official 2025 campaign ends, the CleanUps are still open all year round so that any person, group or entity can organize their own collection.
It doesn’t have to be a big action. It just needs to be real.
Every gesture counts, and together we can generate tangible change in our environment.

A collective movement for the protection of our ecosystems and the reduction of waste in the Mediterranean.

Because big changes are born from small actions.
